What is the Endowment Fund?

Your entry fee is not spent on the day. It joins a fund that is invested and never touched. Only part of what it earns is used: to keep needy students in class, and to support other university activities such as education, research, innovation and institutional development, this year and every year after.

Narrator: Recognizing this, the University of Embu established an Endowment Fund in 2018. The Endowment Fund has become a legacy and an investment in the future of our students, helping to shape leaders, thinkers and visionaries of tomorrow. The investment ensures we can continue to provide opportunities, inspire hope and push the boundaries of possibilities for our students. It has provided a lifeline for many needy students and helped them to overcome financial challenges. Since its inception, the Endowment Fund has changed the course of 284 lives.

Esther Wanjiru, Kevin's mother (translated): Let me say, if you are able to support him, provide him with a place to stay, with food, transport to and from the University, and accommodation… If he quits, it will be devastating for both himself and the family. If he finishes his studies, I will be forever grateful to God.

Cyrus Njiru, Kevin's father (translated): May God continue to bless you… because he tells me, "I have been helped by the University in this particular way." Thank you, the University of Embu, because of your dedication to supporting needy students.

The capital is investedA Board of Trustees, set up under a Trust Deed, manages it. The principal is never spent.

How much does it cost?

Walking costs KSh 1,000 and includes your T-shirt and all arena activities. Children in the Kids Fun Zone only, without walking, pay KSh 500. One parent enters free with each Fun Day child; a second parent pays KSh 200.

Who is performing?

Moji Short Babaa performs live from 1:00 pm, DJ Timkey is on the decks from 7:00 am, and MC Hype Kenah hosts. More acts will be announced on #ForeverWalk.

What can children do?

Face painting, trampoline, the bouncing castle, the dryslide, virtual reality, and meeting the Forever mascot. Children can also walk the 5 KM route on the Walk entry.

Will I get a T-shirt?

Yes. Everyone on the Walk entry, adult or child, gets the royal blue and gold Forever T-shirt. Collect it at the endowment tent on the day. Kids Fun Day entries do not include a T-shirt.

Do I need to be a student or staff member?

No. The day is open to everyone: students, staff, alumni, families and the wider Embu community.

Where does my money go?

Into the University of Embu Endowment Fund. The capital is invested and never spent; only the returns are used. The Fund does not only support needy students with bursaries. It also supports other university activities as set out in the Endowment Fund concept, including education, research, innovation, institutional development and sustainable financing.
